Thursday in Lubeck
Today was a busy day! I should really be in bed - but I want to add this entry before I forget the details. We started off with a meeting with Mayor Bernd Saxe.
Gwendena, Barbara, Cristine, Mayor Saxe, myself and Chris

This meeting was in city hall. He gave us an overview of Lubeck, and then they served wine and marzipan (yes, it was early in the morning!).
After meeting the Mayor, we went on a 2-hour walking tour of Lubeck. We were shown the historical alleys and brickstone houses. There are two homes related to winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature - Gunter Grass and Thomas Mann. I'll give more details about the tour on a later posting. There are many beautiful churches in town.

After the tour, we had lunch with Senator Thornsten Geibler. He is the Senator for Environment and Internal Affairs/Internal Security. We had lunch in his personal office. We had a plate full of meatballs, cheeses, and antipasto.

After lunch, we had a briefing on International Tourism by Barbara Schwartz, the International Marketing Manager. We then walked back to the hotel.

At the hotel, we called taxis to take us to our personal appointments. My appointment was with Mr. Enno Thyen ("teen") at the sewage treatment plant. I know, it doesn't sound glamorous, but it was veryinterested. I provide more information on a later posting.
Once we returned from our appointments, we met some folks at a German restaurant called Schabbelhaus. We had a traditional German meal, according to Maggie. We had pork roast, potatoes, and carrots. It was quite good!
Made it back to the hotel around 10:30. LONG days! Somehow I still have the energy to blog. Good night!
